Panaji (The Hawk): According to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday, the Goa administration has decided to make a minimum of one year of experience in the private sector required while applying for government posts in an effort to attract a qualified and bright workforce.
At a job fair held here, the chief minister told young people that direct employment will no longer be offered.
"There have been instances where numerous people applied for accounts and other positions before to graduating; the PSI positions even followed this pattern. This will no longer be the case as experience in the private sector of at least one year is required for employment in the government "said Sawant.
"Future government job recruitment will require applicants to have prior work experience. There was already a sense that after passing they would be hired by the government (without experience), "He said, adding that candidates will now need to look for employment in the private sector before applying for a position with the government.
"The Goa administration is planning to develop human resources in addition to building infrastructure. We are considering how the public and private sectors might utilise this human resource ability "added Sawant.
"As a result of this approach, we want to discontinue directly offering employment to those without expertise. We've made the decision to modify the guidelines for hiring. The past 30 years have seen no change "said Sawant.
The graduates and others were pushed by the chief minister to take further courses to advance their education.
