Mumbai (The Hawk): The late actress Tunisha's mother, Vanita Sharma, made a sensational claim on Friday, claiming for the first time that her daughter was under 'pressure' to convert to Islam.
Speaking to the media, she claimed that Tunisha was subjected to ongoing harassment by her ex-boyfriend Sheezan Khan and his family. Tunisha said that she was coerced into converting to Islam and that she was frequently made to do things against her will by Sheezan Khan and his family.
Vanita Sharma's claims came a day after Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale paid a visit to the grieving family and promised to ask Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for a compensation of Rs. 25 lakh on their behalf.
On December 24, 20-year-old Tunisha committed suicide on the sets of a teleserial that was being shot in Vasai. The next day, her co-star Sheezan was arrested after her mother accused him of betraying her, cheating, having a second relationship, using her for three to four months, and other things in a video statement.
