New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has unearthed a factory in Ghaziabad where Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) were being printed and arrested three people in this connection, an official said on Tuesday. The three accused were identified as Ashish Jain, Rajpal alias Raju, and Azeem Ahmed. Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Goel said inputs were received about a syndicate of Counterfeit currency racketeers operating clandestinely and circulating Counterfeit Currency Notes in Delhi and NCR.Accordingly, a strategy was chalked out to bust this racket. On May 19, a tip-off was received that one person named Ashish will come near 1st Pushta, New Usmanpur to supply Counterfeit Currency. Subsequently, a police team was constituted which laid a trap and apprehended the accused counterfeiter. On his cursory search, FICN worth Rs 1.5 lakh was recovered.On the instance of accused Ashish, his associate Rajpal was apprehended and on his instance FICN of Rs 3.13 lakh, 50 Uncut printed FICN sheet (30 sheet from office &amp; 20 sheets from i10 Car, containing print of 15 FICN on each sheet) total worth FICN of Rs 3.75 lakh, one Scanner, three CPU used in developing/processing the FICN recovered from his office located at Tronica City, Ghaziabad.The third accused Azeem was apprehended from his factory located at Tronica City. On the instance of Azeemm 301 printed sheet uncut FICN (containing 15 notes on each sheet) total worth of Rs 22,57,500 lakh, 152 printed sheet uncut FICN (containing 05 notes on each) total worth of Rs 3,80,000 lakh recovered from his factory, 08 Printing Proof plates/metal sheet containing printing proof of FICN Rs 500 denomination front and back side also recovered.Apart from that 40 boxes of ink used in Printing of FICN also recovered, the police said. The accused persons were using a dye and offset Printing machine to print the CounterfeitNotes by using specialised ink and tools. After printing the fake notes, the above accused used to give 3 fake notes in lieu of 1 real note to target customers.—IANS

Dehradun: The Kedarnath yatra was suspended amid heavy rains on Monday with devotees en route to the shrine halted at various places between Gaurikund and Kedarnath, an official said.Conscious of the 2013 Kedarnath deluge tragedy, the Rudraprayag district administration appealed to pilgrims to stay put at their respective stations till the weather improves, he said.The Rudraprayag district magistrate said the people who had already worshipped at the Lord Shiva's temple in Kedarnath by Monday morning were stopped from undertaking their return journey.Similarly, the people readying themselves to proceed to Kedarnath from its base camp Gaurikund were stopped from undertaking the onward journey to the shrine, he said.The district administration is taking all possible precautions to ensure that no untoward incident takes place, he added.—PTI

Meerut: The students wing of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress have asked Sangeeta Shukla, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) in Meerut, to withdraw her circular asking students to purchase a book on Ayodhya.Anshu Mallik from the SP’s student union at CCSU said the VC must take back the circular. “Asking students to buy a religious book of one religion or community will do nothing but hurt the sentiments of others,” he said. State president NSUI, Rohit Rana, said: “I don’t have any problem with Lord Ram or Ayodhya, but I have a problem with a figure like the VC, who is sitting on a constitutional post and advertising a religious book. We condemn this move.”The VC had issued a circular asking colleges and institutions affiliated to the university to buy the book titled, “Ayodhya- Parampara, Sanskriti, Virasat”, penned by writer and poet Yatindra Mishra. It is available for around Rs 6,000 on online platforms. In the circular, the VC said she has “received the book on Ayodhya, which is available in Hindi and Sanskrit languages”. “The book has a collection of rare pictures. It will be good for all colleges and institutions, and hence they should think about buying it,” the circular stated. Saharanpur:&nbsp;Two people were injured in a clash between two communities after a woman was allegedly sexually harassed in Deoband police station area here, police said on Friday.Five people have been taken into custody following a complaint by a right-wing organisation, they said. A young woman was returning home from the market on Thursday night when a youth allegedly sexually harassed her. Several shopkeepers came forward in her support, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suraj Rai told PTI. The youth attacked one of the shopkeepers with a rod after which an argument broke out between the two communities, Rai said. The issue soon snowballed with the two groups attacking each other with lathis. One person each from both the sides sustained injuries in the fight, he said. Investigations are on and necessary action will be taken, the SP said. In protest against this incident, BJP leaders and people associated with Hindu organisations sat on a dharna in the night. The police rushed to the spot, held talks with the two sides and defused the situation, police said.—PTI

Dehradun: The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted three months interim bail to Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi in connection with the Haridwar Dharma Sansad case involving alleged inflammatory speeches made against Muslims. A bench comprising Justices Ajay Rastogi and Vikram Nath directed Tyagi, formerly known as Wasim Rizvi, to give an undertaking that he would not indulge in hate speech and not give any statement to electronic or digital or social media. Tyagi had approached the top court after the Uttarakhand high court dismissed his bail plea in March this year.The case against Tyagi and others had been lodged on the complaint of Nadeem Ali, a resident of Jwalapur Haridwar at Haridwar Kotwali on January 2, 2022.He had alleged in his complaint that the Dharma Sansad or religious parliament was organised in Haridwar by Hindu sages from December 17 to 19 last year and in the garb of this event, the participants were instigated to wage a war against Muslims.—PTI

Chamoli: The traffic movement on Badrinath route, NH7, near Panchpulia in Uttarakhand's Karnaprayag was disrupted after boulders fell from the hill on Tuesday. Following the disruption, the Badrinath Yatra through this route was stopped due to the closure of the highway and the operation to open the route is underway.The Badrinath Yatra had resumed only a few hours ago before it was suspended on Monday amid heavy rainfall followed by falling boulders near Hanuman Chatti and rising water in Lambagad drain. The portals of Badrinath Dham were opened on May 8, with the carrying capacity of 16,000 devotees to the Dham in a day.According to the Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana, as many as 115 vehicles had left Badrinath this morning, as soon as weather cleared in the morning. Located in Garhwal hill tracks in Chamoli district along the banks of Alaknanda River, Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The shrine is one of the four ancient pilgrimage sites referred to as 'Char Dham' which also includes Yamunotri, Gangotri, and Kedarnath. It is situated in the town of Badrinath in Uttarakhand. It remains open for six months every year between the end of April and the beginning of November.—ANI

The villagers found him lying in a pool of blood with a bullet injury on his head this morning, police said.Based on the complaint filed by his family members, a villager named Sunny has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, police said.The farmer's body has been sent for post-mortem, they said."Madanpal had gone to keep a watch on his fields on Thursday night. Dehradun: With a rush of pilgrims for the Char Dham Yatra, the daily limit imposed on the number of people visiting each of the shrines -- Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri -- in Uttarakhand has been increased by 1,000 for the first 45 days of the yatra season.An earlier government order in this regard had been partially modified, increasing the limit to 16,000 for Badrinath, 13,000 for Kedarnath, 80,000 for Gangotri and 5,000 for Yamunotri, officials said on Wednesday.The daily limit for the Himalayan shrines, according to the previous order, was 15,000 for Badrinath, 12,000 for Kedarnath, 7,000 for Gangotri and 4,000 for Yamunotri.The decision has been taken on the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the convenience of pilgrims whose number this year is unusually high with Covid-induced restrictions no longer in force, the officials said.The number of pilgrims visiting the revered temples had crossed the daily limit of 38,000 imposed by the earlier order.—PTI

Ghaziabad: A police officer and an advocate engaged in a scuffle at a police outpost inside the district court here, days after the lawyer was intercepted by the sub-inspector for checking his car, officials said.The incident happened this afternoon when sub-inspector Saurabh Rathore, posted at Bhojpur police station of the district, arrived at the district court for some work.Advocate Ravi Sharma, whose car was intercepted by Rathore and constable Mohit Singh when he was returning with his friends from a wedding ceremony from Hapur on April 27, confronted Rathore on the court premises.A heated argument ensued between them when some other lawyers joined Sharma and allegedly manhandled the sub-inspector, witnesses said.Advocates also alleged that the police officer had beaten them on April 27 and that they had complained to SSP Muniraj G.Police personnel deployed at the court police outpost for security purposes intervened to bring the situation under control Tuesday afternoon.The enraged group of lawyers created a ruckus outside the outpost, the police alleged.City Superintendent of Police (first) Nipun Agarwal and ADM City Bipin Kumar reached the court compound to enquire into the matter.No FIR has been registered in this regard, Agarwal told.—PTI

Muzaffarnagar:&nbsp;A former village head was arrested here after he allegedly made a man announce that if anyone from the Dalit community entered his field, they would be beaten with shoes 50 times and made to pay Rs 5,000 as fine, police said on Tuesday.In a video, Kunverpal is seen beating a drum to make the announcement on Monday in front of houses of Dalits in Pawti Khurd village in the district's Charthawal area, they said.Former village head Rajbir Tyagi made Kunverpal make the announcement after members of the Dalit community refused to work in his field, locals claimed.Tyagi was furious about the refusal and took the step to ban them from entering his field and use a tubewell, they said.Both Tyagi and Kunverpal have been arrested and charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Yadav said.Police said that Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act provisions have also been included in the case.The IPC sections pertain to statement conducting public mischief (505) and provocation with intent to cause riot (153), the SSP said.Rajbir Tyagi is the son of Vicky Tyagi, a gangster who was shot dead in 2015. When the parents came to pick up the children after school hours, they came to know about the children being locked in a room. The parents created a ruckus over this. They called the police asking for help when the authorities did not let the children go. After the police intervention, the children were taken out from the principal's office. The children were very nervous and some of them were crying. The management did not respond to calls regarding the incident. Parents' Association President Ankur Saxena said that he had been apprised of the incident and would discuss the issue at a meeting on Sunday after which they would lodge a formal complaint. A case has been registered against three persons, including the girl's friend, under Sections 376D and 328 of the IPC, as well as under Section 5/6 of the POCSO Act."The girl and the accused were neighbours and belonged to the same community. The father of the girl alleged that his daughter was caught by the three accused and was gang-raped, which is why she consumed poison.Bijnor SP said, "Prima facie it seems that the boy had a love affair with the girl for the past few months. They were spotted together on Saturday night. The girl's father approached the police after the two consumed poison."The family of the accused, meanwhile, said, "The two were in a relationship. Noida : A team of Rajasthan police is in Noida in Uttar Pradesh to arrest TV journalist Aman Chopra for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups and hurting religious sentiments, an official said on Sunday.According to Dungarpur Kotwali police station, an FIR was registered against Chopra by a man alleging that the journalist gave false and fictitious details by showing that the demolition of a temple in Rajgarh of Alwar district was done by the Rajasthan government as an act of revenge following the demolition drive in Delhi's Jahangirpuri.Three FIRs have been registered against Chopra, including in Bundi, Alwar and Dungarpur districts, under various sections pertaining to sedition, outraging religious sentiments and promoting enmity between two groups and under the IT Act on April 23.Chopra got a stay from the Rajasthan high court on his arrest in two FIRs registered against him in Bundi and Alwar district, but is facing an arrest warrant following a local court order in Dungarpur district, the police said.“Our team is camping in Noida and searching all possible locations to trace him. Yesterday, also our team went to Chopra's house but he was not found there and his residence was locked,” Dungarpur SP Sudhir Joshi told PTI.He said the high court order does not mention the FIR registered in Dungarpur and stay was given on his arrest in FIRs registered in Bundi and Alwar districts.When asked about cooperation from the Noida police in the matter, Joshi said, “Our team was stopped and asked to come to a local police station before directly acting on the arrest warrant. We cannot say that it is full cooperation.”He said Noida police was already informed about the case details and this was the second time the police team had gone for his arrest.However, the officials of the Noida police said they provided full assistance to the Rajasthan police in carrying out all due procedures, even as the news anchor was not found at his home in the Bisrakh area.“The action was to be taken by the Rajasthan police and not the UP police.
