New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah has expressed anguish on the collapse of Majherhat bridge in Kolkata and directed party unit to join the rescue works.
According to party sources here on Wednesday, he also said that the state leaders should help people and provide all kinds of assistance to the needy.
"My thoughts with families of those affected. May the injured recover soon," Mr Shah wrote in a tweet.
Meanwhile, several BJP leaders have flayed the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led regime in the state for the mishap.
Among others, former Union Minister Mukul Roy said the Ms Banerjee should take the full responsibility.
Union Minister and BJP MP from Asansol Babul Supriyo said it was extremely disturbing news. He wished speedy recovery of the injured.
The Minister said it was ironical that the bridge collapsed despite the fact that many senior Trinamool ministers and city mayor used to travel through that bridge regularly.
