Lucknow/Dehradun: Uttarakhand Sub Area under the aegis of Central Command organized a Veterans Meet & Felicitation Ceremony 12 Aug 2018 at Doon Sainik Institute. The ceremony witnessed a high attendance wherein Veer Naris of Kargil martyrs and even the World War II veterans who in their old age made it a point to attend the event. A huge number of veterans of 80 years and above also graced the function. It is pertinent to mention that year 2018 has been declared " Year of War Disabled Soldiers" by Indian Army. Keeping with that spirit Uttarakhand Sub Area specially invited these brave disabled veterans. As a token of gratitude 18 Veer Naris 07 World War II veterans/wives 10 disabled veterans and 07 veterans of 80 years and above were honoured during the ceremony.
Felicitation Ceremony Cum Veterans Meet
All Veer Naris and veterans were also educated about the various policies the Indian Army has launched in the recent times to look after the welfare of its veterans and elders .
Major General JS Yadav, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding Uttarakhand Sub Area addressed the gathering. The General officer Commanding also interacted with the veterans and Veer Naris and heard their grievances and assured them of redressal of their concerns in the earliest timeframe. The meet was attended by 500 veterans, 30 Veer Naris, 10 Disabled ex servicemen, and 07 veterans of 80 years and above besides that a No of serving Officers, Junior Commissioned Officer and Jawans were also present.
