Rishikesh (The Hawk): AIIMS Rishikesh has received 1.5 Million Dollar grant from the American Society for Research on Blood Cancer. With its help, experts in the Hematology Department of the Institute will soon start research on topics related to blood cancer.
AIIMS Rishikesh is the first medical institution in India to receive this grant. There is no grant to any medical institution in the country by the American Society to promote research on blood cancer. Padmashree Prof Ravikant, Director of AIIMS said that during research on this topic, the focus of AIIMS researchers will be on understanding the differential molecular changes achieved by chemo resistant cells. This study would help in the invention of some new therapeutic methods for patients resistant to chemotherapy.
HOD Dr Uttam Kumar Nath said that this grant has been received for the first time in India by Dr Neeraj Jain, for which he applied to American Society for Research on Blood Cancer. The American Society has approved one and a half million dollars in the grant. Dean of the Institute Research Prof Vartika Saxena said that AIIMS Rishikesh is constantly striving to conduct high-quality medical research, for which various detailed research laboratories are being established in AIIMS.
