Lok Sabha election: Amit Shah casts vote in Gujarats Gandhinagar, says every vote can take nation ahead

BJP president Amit Shah, who is contesting from the Gandhinagar seat in Gujarat for the 2019 Lok Sabha election, cast his vote on Tuesday morning at a polling booth here.

Amit Shah is contesting against Congress candidate CJ Chavda, a two-time MLA from Gandhinagar-North assembly seat.

Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency is synonymous with LK Advani. The veteran BJP leader has represented Gandhinagar in Parliament six times.

After casting his vote at the booth located in Naranpura area of Ahmedabad city, which comes under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, he appealed to the people of Gujarat to come out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.

"Your every vote can take the country forward, it can secure the country and it can lead the nation on the path of development," said Amit Shah, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election for the first time.

After casting his vote, the senior BJP leader also offered prayers at the Kameshwar Mahadev temple located near the polling booth.

The third phase of voting for the 17th Lok Sabha election is taking place on Tuesday. States which are voting in the third phase are Gujarat, Goa, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Maharashtra and Union territories Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.

Polling in all the 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat is being held in a single phase.
