The Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes of assembling on Tuesday till 12 noon by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan after Opposition uproar and protests over Special Category Status demand for Andhra Pradesh and other regional issues.
As soon as the House met for the day, Members from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and YSR Congress Party started sloganeering and rushed into the Well.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSRCP were carrying placards demanding Special Category status for Andhra Pradesh while lawmakers from TRS donning pink stoles wanted hike in reservation quota for Muslims in Telangana. They raised placards which said 'One nation, one law' and 'Link MG-NREGA to farm labourers'.
The AIADMK members also entered into the Well raising slogans for immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board.
The Speaker called for taking up of listed questions and the first question pertaining to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs was named. The ruckus continued and nothing could be heard.
Unable to conduct business, Ms Mahajan adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.
Both the Houses of Parliament have failed to transact any major business since the beginning of the second part of the Budget session of Parliament on March 5.
