New Delhi: Heavy rain and thundershowers hit Delhi this morning, bringing much-needed relief to people of the city from scorching heat and plummeting the minimum temperature to 21.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal. The rain, which followed a heavily overcast sky since last night, brought much-needed respite for Delhiites from the scorching heat of the past few days. A total of 18.6 mm rainfall was recorded in the Safdurjung area while 25.9 mm in Palam. The cool weather in the city is expected to continue with weathermen forecasting generally cloudy sky with possibility of thunderstorms and rain in next 24 hours. The maximum temperature will drop to 34 degrees Celsius, the weatherman added.
