New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences has suspended five doctors in connection with the death of a nurse during treatment at the institute.
According to a statement issued by AIIMS, senior gynaecologist Darshna, Dr Anusha of the same department, junior doctor Amli, anasthesiasist N Nisha and junior doctor of the same department Dr Manish De have been relieved of the charge with immediate effect.
The AIIIMS administration has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of senior physician Dr DK Sharma to probe the matter and the committee has been asked to furnish the details by February 7.
AIIMS Nursing Union has threatened to go on strike en masse in protest against the negligence shown by the doctors in treatment of their colleague Rajbir Kaur leading to her death. Also, the union had demanded suspension of doctors who treated upon their co-worker.
Rajbir Kaur was expecting and was admitted to AIIMS for delivery on January 16. During treatment, she lost her baby and was herself put on ventilator but she died last night. The reason for her death has not been revealed by the hospital authorities as yet. —UNI
