Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's double gave arsenal a much needed 2-1 win over their London neighbors Chelsea in the Football Association Challenge Cup (FA CUP) final today. Arsenal won the FA cup a record 14th time which was made sweeter by their Europa League qualification cause of their FA cup victory.
Chelsea started on the front foot with the American sensation Pulisic giving them the lead. Chelsea was forced to make 2 changes with both Pulisic and their captain Azipilicueta going off the pitch injured. Luck wasn't in Chelsea's favor as Jorginho got a second yellow and was sent off for a challenge on Arsenal's Granit Xhaka.
Arsenal is now secured of a Europa League berth and Wolverhampton Wanderers will have to win this year's Europa League to secure qualification for the next year. Arsenal and Leicester will enter the Europa League at the group stages, scheduled to begin on October 22. Spurs will enter the second qualifying round on September 17 and must play three one-off games to reach the group stages.
Mikel Arteta has now won the FA Cup both as a captain and manager with the arsenal.
