West Bengal civic polls: TMC worker shot dead; crude bombs recovered

Kolkata: Voting for 91 civic bodies in West Bengal began on Saturday morning amid tight security. Around 74 lakh people are eligible to vote for 763 candidates who are contesting civic polls this year. �A total of 35 companies of central forces, besides state forces have been deployed to ensure peaceful polling," State Election Commissioner SR Upadhyay said. Trinamool Congress worker reportedly shot dead in Katwa outside a polling booth, news reports stated. It is being reported that he was shot dead by a Congress supporter, according to ANI. According to news reports, at least 16 crude bombs have been recovered from Sonamukhi in Bankura.
