New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will on Friday meet with secretaries of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) here to review the functioning of the partys organisational structure. It will be his first such meeting with top AICC office bearers following his return from the nearly two-month-long sabbatical. The main aim of today's interaction would be to take feedback from the AICC secretaries, who are mostly young and have been given more powers by Rahul. The Congress vice president would want to know from the secretaries what activities they have been involved with. It is expected that the Congress party's recent attacks on the Narendra Modi government over several issues may also figure in the talks. Sources said Rahul is likely to seek the young secretaries' greater involvement in his pro-farmer steps that include 'kisan padyatras', the first of which was undertaken in Maharashtras Amravati district late last month. The rift between young leaders and senior members of the party is also expected to take centrestage at the meeting. It may be recalled that the young crop of Congress leaders had hit out at seniors last year following the Lok Sabha poll rout. The resentment is there also because some of the seniors have questioned the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the 'mentor' of the young brigade. Last but not the least, the interaction would see a discussion on the future course for the party which has been reduced to almost no-force at the Centre as well as in several states.
