Khunti: The Jharkhand Police gunned down an area commander of the People`s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a Maoist splinter group, in an encounter at Kunjla village in Khunti district. "When our team went for a search operation in Kunjla, they were fired upon and when they retaliated, Nicholas Pahan, who was leading the group, was killed. Another militant called Suren Pandit was arrested," sais Anish Gupta, SP, Khunti . "Nicholas Pahan is wanted in 22 cases. He has killed many people and has also been involved in many such confrontations with the police," he added The police recovered four pistols and bullets from the Maoists.
