People Will Clearly Prefer Chowkidar & Reject Rajas, Maharajas: PM

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday unveiled a unique electoral outreach programme by using BJP's 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' campaign and said for him the term 'chowkidar' is a spirit and 'trusteeship' of a responsibility.

"Some people might have taken it with small definition, but for me the term Chowkidar is a spirit and it is true reflection of the trusteeship of a responsibility," the Prime Minister said addressing a 'townhall' programme 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' campaign via video-conferencing here.

He said the people of India have already made up their mind and that is why they are showing immense faith in him -- as he promised to live up as a 'chowkidar' in 2014 and protect the national assets and exchequer.

"People are showing clear preference to the chowkidar and they will reject Rajas and Maharajas," he said.

Interacting with people from all walks of life from at least 500 locations, the Prime Minister said he never thought about the impact and political implications when he decided to allow armed forces take firm stand against terror hubs in Balakote.

To a questioner from Delhi at the spacious Talkatora Stadium, he said, "When the BJP government will take the oath next time after the elections, 130 crores Indians will also do so". "The success of our Swachh Mission is attributed to the commitment of the people at large.....This happened without any oath. Now, we can imagine better results in next five years when people will also take oath for ensuing a good governance along with the new government," Mr Modi said. The Prime Minister said he could take the vital decision because he cared for 130 crore people and had 'faith' in country's armed forces. "I knew the armed forces are disciplined, so when we gave freehand, I knew of the results too," the Prime Minister said.

Mr Modi said - "It was a well known fact that who controlled the terrorist forces in Pakistan. So, we decided that the playground will be where the camps existed". He also said, Pakistan has been now put in an embarrassment situation and they are trying to give a new shape to the locations which were hit by Indian Air Force attack on February 26. "They (Pakistan) are trying to renovate the areas.....trying to give an impression that mere schools existed there. But it will be difficult for Pakistan to do so as the world knows that Pakistan is the epicentre of terror," the Prime Minister said. UNI
