Country is fed up of Modi, United opposition will defeat BJP in 2019: Rahul
Addressing a joint dharna by the opposition at Ramlila Maidan to protest sharp hike in petrol prices, Mr Gandhi said, 'In the last four years, Mr Modi has done what never happened in last 70 years. He has created divisions in the country, making people of one religion fight against those belonging to other religions and pitting people of one state against another.
'Petrol prices are at an all-time high and rupee at all time low but Mr Modi does not say a word whereas before 2014 he used to tour across the country and lament rise in fuel prices. Farmers are committing suicide and women are being raped by BJP MLAs and the PM does not say a word. He just keeps on delivering speeches. The country is fed up of seeing him. '
Accusing the Modi government of benefiting only a few industrialist friends of Mr Modi, he said,'Today people of the country be it farmers, youth or small businesses do not know where to go for redressal. Only 15 to 20 crony capitalists are being benefitted '.
Attacking the PM on the Rafale deal, he charged him with benefitting a particular busuinessman in Rafale deal.
'The PM and his industrialist friend should know this is the money of the people and the PM has taken the money paid by people by way of taxes and put it into the pocket of the businessman,' he said.
