Mumbai: Thirty-three people were killed after a bus in which they were travelling fell into a deep gorge at Poladpur in the Raigad district of Maharashtra on Saturday. The death toll was confirmed by District Collector Vijay Suryawanshi.
Around 35 to 40 people were on board the ill-fated bus. The police has roped in local trekking groups for the search and rescue operation.
The passengers were staffers of Konkan Agriculture University in Ratnagiri district and were travelling to the hill station of Mahabaleshwar in Satara district for the weekend.
